Well! I have something perhaps unexpected to share with you. One of my favourite writers on Substack happens to be a sex worker in Amsterdam. And let me tell you, I have had an education reading her essays! She is a remarkable woman and many people, I suspect, would find her to be full of surprises. She is extremely intelligent, tough, funny, kind, outrageous, hard as nails and soft as a bunny. And she is a fantastic writer (with English as her third or fourth language!). I’ve become very fond of her. Check out her writing: Her name is Füsun Aydin and she writes Letters From a Prostitute.

I’ve actually heard of her. I’ll take a closer look. Thank you!

I really liked everything except for the crazy cyclists

i looked up where you stayed. that's the same area where a spent my time-- literally 1 canal out and 1 block north. loved it. i started at the bench in front of Cafe Tabac. that's where the bachelorette party adopted me. do you remember that story? surely i've told that one to you both.

Thanks for the excellent reminder that great getaway options (and cooler climes) are just a short hop away for us Parisians!

Very timely! Planning a trip with some friends, and this will spur us on. Thank you!

My sister and I were in Amsterdam last fall and ate at Little Bonfire twice in three days - I fully agree that it's worth multiple visits!

What a funny coincidence 😊

Sounds like a fantastic getaway! The canal cruise sounds amazing

It was fab!

AAAAAhhhhh! This was such an inspiring read!! We missed going there and you made me miss the missing it even more!!! Dayum. That mountain of bicycles scared me though. Not lying. I only have one critique: please put the word DOMINATRIX in your byline. Everyone wants to know about the etiquette on the sex walk! Loved this. Mwah!

Hah! The bicyclists are quite intense.

Made notes for a future getaway. This sounded just right!

Sounds like an ideal get-a-way! xo

I’m never disappointed after a day wandering in Amsterdam. But I haven’t been there in years, so have noted the Tony’s Super Store, fab chocolate and a fab company. It’s hot here but nothing like you all have been experiencing in Paris!

Sounds like a great time! I haven't been and I've been wanting to try bitterballen for years now.
