On Rue Tatin is one of my favorite moving-to-France books. Susan moved here roughly at the time I did and her quiet, understated recounting of integrating in her small town pre-Internet definitely resonates with me. I reread it a year ago or so, and it is one of the few books in that genre that I have kept.

Third, to answer your question, I'm currently reading The Renoir GIrls: A Hidden History of Art, War and Betrayal by Catherine Ostler. Which is fascinating, and which may end up on the reading list for one of my future online classes for Politics and Prose. Maybe! In any case, I'm enjoying it.

I forgot you taught at P&P. One of my favorite bookstores in DC. When I was a kid, I had a job scooping ice-cream at little place on the same block.
These were ALL great suggestions!! Last year, I was listening to all of David Sedaris' books on Spotify as I trained for a marathon I would never run. But listening to Me Talk Pretty One Day while clomping up and down hills was hilarious. And I want to be in Natalie's book group!!! She is reading with me on Saturday at Nan Tepper's Wham! Bam! Thank you! Slam! Join us if you are awake at 11 p.m.! Or just buy a ticket anyway to support the cause! Discount tickets for having a vagina! Mwah!! xx
Good book list, a number of which I’ve read and enjoyed. I’d suggest Alexander Lobrano’s A Place At The Table be included for those who love Paris and food.
I'm reading my 2nd book by Janet Skeslien Charles, The Librarians of Rue de Picardie (in the States it's sold under the title of Miss Morgan's (yes, that miss Morgan) Book Brigade. I really enjoyed the first one I read by her, The Paris Library, which tells how it was in the American Library in Paris through WWII.
I've been meaning to read Anais Nin for ages. Anything that you would recommend as a starting point, Sacha? Interestingly, she died here in L.A., and I didn't know she had a connection to the city. I'm finishing Carl Hiaasen's Squeeze Me, which is hilarious. Flaneur also looks good!
I read The Diary of Anaïs Nin when I was in my 20s, so not sure if I’d still enjoy it today ;) Glad that you’re enjoying Squeeze Me. Love me some Carl Hiaasen.
Love all of David Leibovitz’s books. The Sweet Life and L’Apart. Both excellent. I look forward to digging into others.
