I’m not going to jump into the fray about the dumpster fire that was the U.S. election. I’m both disgusted and also not that surprised. But damn, Americans, what the living f*%k? Like everyone I know, I’ve been vacillating between despair and rage, interspersed with too much chocolate and wine. So yes, we’re doubling down on France. It’s far from perfect, but at least they didn’t elect a demented, racist, homophobic, misogynistic pathological liar and felon.
On that light-hearted note, for those of you who are considering moving to France, I’ve temporarily removed the subscriber-only paywall from French Faves. Here, you’ll find resources for people looking to move to France and a ton of other stuff I’ve gathered over the past decade of traveling there.
Also, feel free to comment below (or email me) if you have questions about embarking on a similar journey. I've learned a lot over the past year or so by doing a ton of research, watching webinars, talking to experts, and participating in expat communities. The only thing getting me through this terrifying time is community, giving back, and making bundt cakes, so I’m happy to help.
P.S. New around here? Here’s the backstory. I’ve written about feeling sartorially challenged in Paris, falling in love with France, and how a pair of orange pants can change your life, among other essays and observations. The full archives are here.
P.P.S. In case you didn’t see the last post, paid yearly subscribers will receive a special French care package when we return to the States. It’ll include goodies you can only get on the other side of the pond, including my favorite chocolate bar.
French Faves is still ‘subscriber only’.
