Bonjour friends! Are you considering your next chapter? Do you dream of living in France one day? Then my substack might be right up your ruelle. You’ll find personal essays, interviews, and snippets from my travels in France. Plus, I share the journey Jason and I are taking to make our dream of living in France come true.

So, whether you’re a Francophile, a wannabe expat, or searching for what’s next, I hope that you enjoy my little corner of substack.

Paid subscribers also get access to my list of French Faves, a frequently updated collection of travel and expat resources, shops, restaurants, and more that I’ve compiled over the past decade.

This Substack is a GiveBackStack, which means that 100% of net paid subscriptions are donated to two of my favorite animal welfare organizations: Woodstock Farm Sanctuary and the Animal Welfare League of Arlington. I’ll update all subscribers about how much has been donated 2-3x a year.

About Me

I’m a writer who cut her teeth during the heyday of magazine publishing in the late 1990s and early 2000s. I wrote for everyone from the Washington Post to New York Magazine to Cosmopolitan. I’ve written about wellness retreats, green buildings, vegan cheese, menopause, dating, careers, and a gazillion other topics. I was also one of the first journalists to write for the web, and I launched DC’s first online art and culture magazine, Cultureflux.

For 14 years, I ran Grassfed Media, a communications and PR firm focused on emerging industries like plant-based foods and cannabis. My career has taken many twists and turns, and I’ve now come full circle, returning to freelance writing, mostly about travel, mid-life, and wellness.

On a more personal note, I grew up in England and the U.S. in the 1970s and 80s and strongly identify as a GenXer. That means I’m a cynic with a side of carefully measured optimism. I’m also an animal lover, childless by choice, and can tell you a thing or two about menopause. If you’re a Francophile with a snarky side and a kind heart, we’ll probably be friends.
